Our family’s lives changed forever when we lost our 17 year old daughter and sister. In the hardest days of our lives, we were surrounded by an overwhelming amount of love from our family, friends and community. We also found some comfort in knowing that, as a five-time organ donor, she gave others the chance to keep living.
We were given something else we will always be grateful for: time. We had a week to sit with her, to talk to her, to say the things we might never have said otherwise, and eventually to say goodbye.
But there are things we will never know. At 17, what would she have wanted to say to her parents, her sisters, her family, her friends? I would give anything to hear her voice one more time.
That thought stayed with me. And eventually, it became another question:
How do I make sure the people I love get to hear the things I want them to know?
Not just goodbye. The things we mean to say but don’t always say. The stories we want our families to remember. The advice we hope they’ll carry with them. A message for a birthday, a graduation, a wedding, a new baby, or one of life’s moments we may not be there to see.
That question became the beginning of Legacy Vault.
I’m a dad, and for some time now, I’ve been quietly working with a team to build something very personal to me. A platform that helps people capture their voice, preserve their stories, and keep their messages safe for the moments that matter.
